Winning a Leica at the Heineken Legendary Traveler Contest

 photo image003_zps0057a065.jpg

Heineken Legendary Traveler is a global campaign where a person selected will be "dropped" off at a location which he has no clue on where he would be at. There will be a set of challenges involved and of course, its going to be LEGENDARY!

Some of us from Kuala Lumpur were chosen to have a mini legendary trip where there was a contest involved with it too. Heineken brought together 30 of us comprising of Bloggers and Instagrammers for this contest where we will be brought to a secret location, We'll have to Instagram 5 legendary pictures there, and the best pictures will win

We gathered at Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) factory where we were briefed and loaded onto a bus. We were all blindfolded so seriously we had no clue on where we were going

After about a 1/2 hour drive, the secret location was revealed and it was Taman Tasik Perdana at Kuala Lumpur. We had 1 hour to take our shots all over the park displaying our creativity and the prizes to be won were LEGENDARY!

there were 3 grand prizes which includes:
- A Leica Vlux 30 + leather casing
- 1 year Juice Magazine Subscription
- A Heineken bag flown all the way from Holland
- Bottles of heineken

and there were 5 consolation prizes of Heineken Crates

I took all my creativity and "craziness" to show it through my photos. Here are my shots:

and of course for the real crazy ones:

 photo 2_zps4c3647f6.jpg

Yes i actually stripped and the MBKL were all staring at me whether to capture me or let the wild man loose LOL

We headed to Tujo @ Ascott Kuala Lumpur where the winners were announced and dinner was served there. And I managed to appear one of the grand prize winners! woohoo!

Some of you may think that "OMG SAM IS SO LUCKY, EVERYTIME ALSO WIN CONTEST". Well honestly I would like to say, it is not all about luck. Luck does play a part, but also you need a lot of effort & preparation to win contests.

As for this contest, I actually planned ahead on my ideas thinking of what kind of locations that would be brought up. For instance:

- I brought my gas mask along for a picture as I thought of it a few days back
- I thought that there'll be a water element so I wore boxers instead of my normal underwear that day
- I thought about what would be the "wow" factor. which includes height, jump shots & a lil hint of craziness as it supposed to be LEGENDARY

so well, I just wanted to say that LOL

Here is the picture of the winners that day:

Once again I want to thank Heineken for inviting me over and I really love the prize you've given me! Can't wait for the next party/contest!

Five For Fighting, The Wanted & All American Rejects this Arthurs Day 2013!

 photo DSC_0311_zpscdb8886d.jpg

Arthurs Day is back once again this year! With a lineup crazier than ever, it is not to be missed! I managed to head to the press conference last Thursday at KL Live where plenty of media, bloggers and friends joined together to know more of what is happening this year

I reached about 8pm (supposed to start at 7) and it was great as it hadn't started yet! I joined my fellow bloggers and friends from the events management company and chilled with a nice pint of Guinness. After 3-4 weeks of a gigantic workload at the office, this is definitely a day to chillax and let loose!

Serena C started it off by inviting the Guinness team on board and the artist were revealed 1 by 1!. It was awesome because as of last year, it was mostly local bands, and this year it took up a notch by having international bands such as:

 photo ArthursDayArtist-FiveForFighting_zpsde559748.jpg
Five For Fighting

Singer/songwriter John Ondrasik has spent the past decade writing deeply personal songs that include social messages, invoke the human spirit and make an emotional connection. This can be heard on the past four albums by Five For Fighting, the band name under which he records and performs. No one can ever forget such classic songs such as "Superman"

 photo ArthursDayArtist-All-AmericanRejects1_zps6fa2fc09.jpg
All American Rejects

A pop punk band of Stillwater, Oklahoma based, were originally formed by Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler who discovered that both of them shared profound interest in music when they met during their high school years.

With hit singles such as "Swing, Swing", "It Ends Tonight", "Dirty Little Secret" and "Move Along", its definitely going to move the crowd crazy!

 photo ArthursDayArtist-TheWanted2_zpsb2d4cd44.jpg
The Wanted

The Wanted needs no more introduction as it is one of the most famous boy bands now. Consisting of Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness, and Siva Kaneswaran, they formed, The Wanted. Since then, their debut album, The Wanted. We'll definitely be chasing the sun with them around!

I personally can't wait for Five For Fighting and All American Rejects as I grew up listening to their songs.

We were then entertained by Daniel Wong's band as they played covers of the 3 main artist that were going to play at Arthurs Day

My trip to Cebu, Philippines!

First and foremost, sorry for the lack of updates as I've been SUPPERRRRR busy with work. Plenty of projects coming in and well, its been pretty taxing. Meeting clients, overtime, etc etc and yeah I'm just hoping by Raya it'll be better. (who wants to be so busy during the holidays yeah?)

About 2 weeks back, I managed to head over to Cebu, Philippines! This is my 2nd trip to the Philippines and it was a different adventure totally! I headed over there with both my sisters this time *Yay Family Reunion* as Audrey was back from Ireland, and Sonya came from Sabah.

If you're wondering why I'm heading to Philippines again, its part of winning the Cebu Pacific Airlines Juan Blogger contest which gives me 4 trips to the Philippines and becoming the Cebu Pacific Airways Blogger Ambassador =)

As for this trip, my flights were sponsored by Cebu Pacific Airways, Accommodation by Agoda.com and Shopping Money by Visa =)

We caught an early flight to Cebu which we arrived there about 2am in the morning. Agoda was gracious enough for recommending me a hotel for the first night which was Marco Polo hotel. And after a good 8 hours of rest, we headed over to the next hotel we're staying at which was The Marriott *Chewahhh both also 5 star*

Check out the room =D

Since we were staying here for 3 days 2 nights, we decided that as for the 1st day, we would go sightseeing and shopping around Cebu Area. Marriott Hotel is situated right next to Ayala shopping mall, so it was quite an ease to go there and buy stuff. Of course we headed over to SM Cebu for more cheap bargains.

As for sight seeing, we headed over to a few places, starting at Fort San Pedro. A really old triangular fort with loads of canons. we paid about 200 Pesos per person to enter, and it was beautiful. I love how all these old architectural buildings just stand after the hundreds of years that pass.

Check out the fort:

Outside the fort we found one of those love heart trees, so yeah the sisters just had to do this

After the fort, we walked over to Magellans cross, which is a cross made out of Tindalo Wood planted on April 21, 1521. That's how old it is!

Stocks R Us!

We headed out for Filipino street food, found one of those bbq-ing shacks and just ate there like the locals! of course my skin colour could blend in with the rest =)

On the 2nd day in Cebu, we decided to take a boat ride out to Bohol. Bohol is an Island situated 2 hours away from Cebu city. We booked Weesam express (550 pesos per person return tix) which was pretty reasonable to Tagbilaran Port at Bohol

Bohol is known for whale & dolphin watching, but sadly we weren't in time for that :(

here's the journey on the boat:

After the 2 hour ride, we took a cab from Tagbilaran to Panglao Island (about 30 minutes from Tagbilaran) which is the most famous place for Bohol with its spectacular beaches! If you ever head there, make sure you haggle the price of the cab as you can bring it down to as low as 300 pesos one way. We were dumb and we paid 600 pesos one way =( *blardy rip off*

But well as we reached the beach, we just spent our day away chilling and eating on the nice clean sand and crystal clear waters

lazing my day away

Well that's about it for my Cebu trip. It was definitely worth it as a vacation was all I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle at home. I can't wait for my next trip there, but I guess it'll only be during the year end as it is currently rainy season =(

I wanna personally thank Michelle from Cebu Pacific Airlines for organizing everything I needed, Joy from Cebu Pacific Airlines for telling me the great places to go to & Carolyn from Visa who has been providing me the Muullahhh for my trip. I also want to thank Cebu Pacific Air, Agoda & Visa for sponsoring everything for my trip! :)
